Kenzen's mission is to predict and prevent industrial workforce injuries due to heat, exertion, and fatigue. Billions of industrial workers are exposed to hazardous work conditions, with huge health impacts and high costs to employers. Kenzen measures worker physiology and sends alerts to the worker and their safety supervisor to enable real-time interventions prior to injury. Data is then anonymized and aggregated to create unique insights to corporate leaders. Kenzen is partnering with major multinationals to keep their highest risk workers safe across the globe.
In 2019, we brought the Caeden team's expertise in building high quality physiology-based IoT solutions to Kenzen in service of this impactful mission. With the sad and unexpected passing of Kenzen's Founder and CEO, Dr. Sonia Sousa, I stepped in as CEO to lead a recapitalization of the business. I negotiated debt down by 86%, reduced monthly cash burn by 72%, and raised $5.7M in funding from strategic investors, with a strong syndicate in the Midwest and heavy industry. We improved operational focus to enable the transition from scientific R&D to productization and commercialization of Kenzen's most high potential IP, launching an enterprise SaaS platform and securing recurring revenue deals with major industrial customers.
